It is my belief that there are two kinds of people: Pickers and Choosers. Pickers aren’t afraid to eat the leftovers off of their friends’ plates or go back for seconds of free samples. Pickers like me realize that world is one big lost and found if you keep your eyes and mind open!
I found it on the sidewalk in Pittsburgh. Just because I was on a run didn’t mean I could leave this tissue-soft bad boy to be pooped on by someone’s dog!
This lucky hat (YES it is luckier than Mulan’s cricket!) was a sopping wet ball of yarn I rescued on Court Street my freshman year.

Rescued from a garbage can at the Laundromat. And I’ll be darned, these Hollister jeans were just my size!
4. This gem?
My brother found it while he was working construction in a rag bucket. Quite the rags to riches story for this Cinderella T-shirt.
BUT WAIT! Clothes aren’t the only thing worth pickin’!
Boy were my housemates glad when I brought home ghetto candelabra.
Even street animals can make their way into your hearts! Like Panda, the stray cat that has turned into a full on house-kitty diva.
However, sometimes her street cat roots come out in confrontational gangster kitty poses:
Ironically the things you find that become your favorite— like my black Aussie beanie I found in a puddle— can get lost!
Thank you ya little floppy fella for keeping my head warm all the way from New Zealand to Athens, Ohio. I guess some clothes are meant to be free. Rest in peace beanie baby, you will be missed.
I know you are looking down on me from hat heaven. Or atop someone else’s head ❤
Here’s to the pickers who aren’t afraid to reach into a Dumpster for new furniture or troll the couch cushions for loose change— I salute you! May you continue to turn trash into treasures.
*** DISCLAIMER, I WASHED ALL THE CLOTHES I FOUND! ( I AM NOT THAT GROSS!) ****
